Woman - Bird
Metamorphosis, Consciousness and the Emergence of a New Identity
Where The Spiral of Generations explores the dissolution of inherited identities, Woman–Bird investigates what might emerge beyond them.
This developing series continues Maria's exploration of feminine transformation through the symbolic fusion of the human figure and the bird.
The bird represents the possibility of freedom, movement, and transcendence. Yet the metamorphosis is neither immediate nor effortless. It unfolds through a complex interaction of psychological awareness, bodily transformation, vulnerability, and emerging strength.
Human figures, masks, feathers, flowing hair, and organic structures become part of a visual language in which identity is no longer fixed, but constantly evolving.
References to biological forms and DNA introduce another dimension: the relationship between what is inherited and what can be transformed.
The series explores the tension between the body as a carrier of memory and the individual as a conscious participant in her own evolution.
The woman does not simply escape her previous existence. She undergoes a metamorphosis.
From Sketchbook to Painting
The development of Woman–Bird begins with original drawings and compositional studies in the artist's sketchbooks.
These initial ideas are explored through further visual experiments, including AI-assisted digital studies based on Maria's own drawings and artistic direction.
The digital studies are not presented as finished paintings, but as part of the creative research process — a way of investigating composition, movement, symbolism, and possible transformations before and during the development of physical artworks.
The project remains in progress, with new paintings and visual experiments continuing to emerge.
